Juan is a musician, IP attorney, professor, and legal advisor in entertainment law. With more than 16 years of experience, he advises a wide range of companies and clients in this field, including musicians, music producers, record labels, managers, publishers, distributors, TV channels, film directors, actors, artists, designers, writers, creatives and entrepreneurs. He supports them through his extensive expertise, primarily in copyright law for the entertainment industry.

Within his professional experience in the music industry, he has advised several artists, such as Aterciopelados, Totó La Momposina, Diego Torres, Felipe Peláez, Binomio de Oro, Adriana Lucía, Kevin Johansen, Piero, Miguel Mateos, Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica de Bogotá, Superlitio, Billo’s Caracas Boys, Susana Baca, Ultrageno, Inés Gaviria, and Briela Ojeda, among others. He also advises companies in the entertainment industry such as Netflix, HBO, Warner, Samsung, and SAP, as well as entrepreneurs from other fields, including Efrén Martínez. Likewise, he has advised the Colombian Patent and Trademark Office and ProColombia in IP and Copyright matters. He serves as professor in the Master’s Degree in Business Law at Universidad del Rosario GSB, as well as a lecturer in Copyright Law for the Music Masters (Music Business) diploma program at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and for the Copyright program at ENE AUDIO (Audio Engineering Society & AVID Tech Member).

He holds a law degree (JD) from Universidad Santo Tomás, a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property from FLACSO Argentina, and is a registered as IP Agent before Argentinian TMO. He has completed studies in Music Business at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Entertainment Law at Universidad de los Andes, and Copyright Law at Harvard University. He is also a certified conciliator in law with an emphasis on IP.

He previously worked as an associate attorney in the Copyright Dept at Sena & Berton Moreno (Argentina), as an IP advisor at Universidad Sergio Arboleda, and as a lecturer in IP at Universidad Santo Tomás. He has developed his practice in some national and international law firms, notably serving as Senior Associate in the trademarks and copyright department at Cavelier Abogados. Currently, as Founder and CEO of Legal Tape, he continues advising both national and international clients on IP, entertainment law, contract law, corporate law, and commercial law.
